ICE RINK UPDATES
We hope you all enjoyed our 2023 Ice Rink!
Maintenance on our snowbank rink has ended for 2023. Over the next few weeks, installation materials will be cleared from the site (this includes the lights, generator, snow shovel, hay bales, etc). The weather is forecasted to creep above 0 over the next week. The quality of the ice has started to decline and will continue over the next few weeks. For the safety of our community, we recommend against any further activity on the ice!
This rink would not have been possible without the amazing support we received from our sponsors, particularly Brookfield Residential, who granted us access to the land as well as funds. We also had a number of amazing community sponsors, including SPICE’d Childcare Services, Optimax Benefits, Inspecus Home Inspection and Michelle Ozella Real Estate. Thank you for your generosity and investing in the community!
Did you know? The ice rink is a massive financial commitment by the League because the City of Edmonton does not pay directly for rinks in communities. Our League voted to spend over $17 000 in order to make this rink happen for our community because residents told us this was a priority for them. We hired the company Outdoor Ice to build and maintain our rink this year. Each year we want to have a rink, we will require significant financial and time commitments. Please remember that it takes people power to ensure that we can continue to build and maintain a rink in the future, so we need community members to help us out!
It was a great season and we hope to do it again.

SPICE'd CHILDCARE SERVICES
https://www.spicedchildcare.com/
SPICE'd Childcare Services is a professional team of child enthusiasts who seek to have a positive impact on the lives of children. Our mission is to assist children in developing their fundamental Social, Physical, Intellectual, Creative and Emotional skills. This is achieved through child-led exploration, investigation, imagination, creativity, and problem solving.
SPICE’d understands the importance of community involvement, especially when it comes to children, as they are the next generation to continue on a communities legacy, or be apart of the change that happens. There is a famous saying that says “it takes a village to raise a child,” and it is important that every child has a village to support them in their growth, development, and involvement. Although a child can still succeed without its village, the process to the child’s success can potentially be easier with that village surrounding them and cheering them on. This is why SPICE’d values community involvement, and ensures that there are safe spaces for children to experience the support systems they have around them.
